Information

The European SKA Consortium (ESKAC) is a consortium of several partners to support the SKA Program Development Office (SPDO).

ESKAC was formed because of

• mutual interest and commitment to develop the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope as a joint international endeavour
• the need for coherent European coordination to foster the development of a European Square Kilometre Array program, in cooperation with and contributing to the global SKA program,
• the need for a European consortium to participate in the International Square Kilometre Array Program as a regional group

The goal of ESKAC is to:

• promote the SKA as a global program, requiring a major European contribution,

• foster European and global technical and scientific activities related to the SKA,

• encourage, support, and coordinate individual national and joint international funding applications for scientific and technical development and operation of the SKA,

• coordinate the participation of Europe in the International Square Kilometre program and appoint European members for the SKA Science and Engineering Committee (SSEC) and for related activities as described in the ESKAC Rules of Procedure,

• Coordinate European contributions to the common fund supporting the SKA Program Development Office (SPDO).
